Luks like the end: Modric agrees personal terms with Real Madrid and could complete move next week

Luka Modric appears close to the Tottenham exit door with a move to Real Madrid possibly completed next week.

Sources close to Modric claimed the Croatian schemer has now agreed personal terms on a four-year deal with Jose Mourinho's La Liga champions.

And while Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will hold out for the highest possible price, it seems that Modric will get his move out of White Hart Lane in the next few days.

The source said: "Everything has been resolved satisfactorily.
"Luka and Madrid agree on everything. The only problem is the position of Tottenham, which has made things a little more difficult .
"But everything will be solved. And, more importantly, it will be resolved quickly."

Real were briefing that a fee of around £28million will be agreed with Spurs, although that is some distance below the valuation set by Tottenham, with new boss Andre Villas-Boas keen to try and persuade the midfielder to stay in N17.

Levy, determined not to sell the 26-year-old to a Premier League rival - although a bid of around £50m from either Chelsea or Manchester United might have given him room for thought - wants at least £35m from Real or potential rivals Paris St-Germain.

Selling Modric, signed for £16.5m from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008, for that preferred fee would represent excellent business and allow Levy to fund Villas-Boas' rebuilding programme.

Spurs, boosted by Gareth Bale's decision to sign a new four-year deal, have already landed Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson who impressed during his loan spell at Swansea from Hoffenheim.

Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen's £9m move is also expected to go through in the next few days when the Belgian defender has resolved his contractual wrangle with the Dutch side and Spurs are also tracking the Brazilian midfield pairing of Santos' Ganzo and Internacional's Oscar.

Villas-Boas will also be seeking to add a line-leading striker if a deal cannot be struck with Manchester City which would allow Emmanuel Adebayor to join Spurs on a permanent deal after his successful loan spell last season.
