Ferguson: Bolt could play for United

Sir Alex Ferguson could give Olympic gold medal winning sprinter Usain Bolt the chance to impress against Real Madrid.

Bolt, 26, has long spoken of his desire to play for United, having supported United since he was a child.
The athlete was recently paraded in front of the home crowd prior to the 3-2 win over Fulham, with the Jamaican once more stating his dream to represent the Red Devils.

Ferguson, however, realises that Bolt doesn't possess the required talent to operate in top-flight football, but might offer him the opportunity to play in a friendly.

"He's been to Carrington a couple of times and he did help Ronaldo with his sprinting,'' Ferguson told Inside United. "He's a bit of a character and a big United fan. But it's interesting he says he would like to play in a charity game.

"It could be brilliant, and next year, when we play Real Madrid's Legends again, there could be opportunities to bring him in and see how he does.''

Ferguson has even more affection for the Jamaican after winning money on his exploits at London 2012.

"I must thank him because that was my biggest bet. Bolt was 4/5 to win each of them, the 100m and 200m, a week before the tournament started. It was a brilliant bet. I couldn't believe it," Ferguson explained. "He's the fastest man in the world and the others would have to have taken half a second off their running to beat him. He is phenomenal.''
