Robin van Persie has given Manchester United an extra dimension with
his "world class" finishing, Old Trafford team-mate Michael Carrick has
said.
APVan Persie has made a dream start at United
Van
Persie, 29, joined United from Arsenal last month after a summer of
speculation that had also seen him linked with Premier league champions
Manchester City and Juventus.
After getting off the mark in
United's second game against Fulham, Van Persie hit a hat-trick in the
dramatic 3-2 win at Southampton on Sunday.
"World-class players
have got a presence," Carrick explained. "When the ball came to Robin
for his first goal on Sunday, I was so confident it was going to be a
goal.
"To have someone like that in your team is satisfying,
because you know if you supply him with the right ammunition, more often
than not he will put it away."
Van Persie scored 30 Premier
League goals for Arsenal last season, winning the Golden Boot, and
Carrick believes he has started life in Manchester in a way that
promises a repeat of that feat.
"If Robin carries on like this, I
will enjoy it very much,'' he said. "It's a better start than he could
have hoped for. We have got some firepower at the club now and, whoever
the manager calls upon, we will look dangerous."
